Experience the richness of Russian culture at Manchester-by-the-Sea from August 7 – 16th at the exhibition showcasing fine art, Russian handicrafts, food, live music and some historical connections between Russia, Ukraine and New England!

Paintings, etchings, mixed media and jewelry by 12 Russian, Ukrainian and American artists will be featured at the exhibit.

 

This is our calendar of events at the summer exhibit August 7-16th, 2015:

Friday, August 7, 5-8 PM: Opening reception hosted by

Olesya and Jerry Koenig , with live music and refreshments.

Saturday, August 8,  11AM – 1PM:   Round table discussion on Russian Connections with the North Shore, by Russian-American Cultural Center of Boston ( Director Margaret Coleman) and the presentation Blue and White: Dutch Delft and Russian Gzhel porcelain.

Saturday, August 8,  5 – 6PM:   Designer Rimma Zaika-Veksler and live models present unique jewelry, knitted clothing, and Ukrainian emroidery.  Works available for sale.

Sunday, August 9, 12 – 2PM:  Larisa Dyan, the docent of Museum of Russian icons in Clinton, MA will perform her Matryoshka Nesting Doll workshop and storytelling. Tea will be served.  Donations welcome.

Wednesday and Thursday, August 12-13, the exhibition is open 12 – 6PM.

Friday, August 14,  6-7 PM:  John Huss from Manchester Historical Museum will talk about Captain R. Trask and ship St. Petersburg. Museum presentation.

olgaSaturday, August 15, 5 – 6PM:   Opera concert by Commonwealth Lyric Theater of Boston.  Olga Lisovskaya and Alexander Prokhorov from Commonwealth Lyric Theater will be performing Russian and Ukrainian songs, including those from Ukrainian opera “The Cossack Beyond the Danube”.

 

Saturday, August 16,  6 PM:  exhibition closing.

We are open:

On Fridays from 3-8 PM

On Saturdays from 11-7PM

On Sundays, Wednesday, Thursday  from noon-6PM.

The Manchester Community Center, located at 40 Harbor Point in Manchester-by-the-Sea, has a great exhibition hall, 3 min walk from commuter train station. Free parking is available nearby. We hope to see you at our Summer art and culture exhibition soon, dear friends!

Jerry and Olesya Koenig are long time fine art collectors. In 2010, when Jerry retired from his job as General Director of Tenneco Automotive-Volga in Russia, they moved from Moscow, Russia to Cambridge, MA and co-founded From Russia With Art Gallery in Cambridge. The gallery features paintings, etchings, mixed media and sculptures of great quality and detail by Russian-American and Ukrainian artists, such as: Stanislav Nikireyev ( 1932-2007,) People's Artist of Russia; Anatoly Dverin ( b. 1935) Signature Member of OPA and Master of Pastel Society of the United States, Honored Artists of Russia: Alexander Vetrov, Irena Makoveeva and Vladimir Vorobyev, painters George Lapchinsky, Alexander Korman, Jim Kociuba, Maria Bablyak and Misha Lenn, sculptors Masha Volkova and Oleg Kedrya and more. They all represent great Schools of Fine Art, such as St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Art, Surikov and Stroganov Institutes of Fine Art in Moscow, Kiev Academy of Fine Art, Rhode Island School of Design and more. During annual pop-up exhibitions in different towns of Massachusetts and Maine Russian-Ukrainian cultural, educational and music programs being offered to Gallery supporters and visitors. Art and culture has no borders and helps mutual understanding between American and Russian people.

    We are very much looking forward to organize 2nd Summer exhibition of Russian paintings, etchings, sculptures and unique jewelry and handicrafts at the Community Center of beautiful Cape Ann town Manchester -by-the-Sea.

    This town is home of the Russian-American Cultural Center of Boston and its founder and Director for 23 years Margaret Coleman. The dates of the exhibition in July 2015 will be announced soon.
